Despite having the same moniker and ethos, the new and old X5 are poles apart in terms of the amount of tech on offer. The infotainment and instrument displays use the 7.0 iDrive operating system, which includes the voice-activated ‘Hey, BMW’ personal assistant, as well as the latest in driver assistance systems – with emergency stop assistant making its appearance on the X5 for the first time.

Adaptive cruise control, lane change and departure warnings, side collision protection, crossing traffic alert and wrong way warning also feature – helping the 2019 X5 be one of the most advanced BMWs yet.

The 2019 X5 starts from £57,495 and deliveries will begin before the end of 2018.
